A survey on base-12 supremacy
Imagine your government passes a law: all numerical systems convert to dozenal (base-12) instead of decimal (base-10). Street signs, bank accounts, your paycheck, timestamps—everything.
Instead of counting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, you'd count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, ↊, ↋, 10. Twelve becomes "one dozen" or just "10" in dozenal notation.
The math actually works better. 12 divides cleanly by 2, 3, 4, and 6. Want a third? That's 0.4 in dozenal instead of 0.333... Want a quarter? That's 0.3 instead of 0.25. Fractions become cleaner. Mental arithmetic gets easier.
But you'd have to relearn everything. Every price tag, every measurement, every phone number would look different. The entire infrastructure of human numerical cognition would shift overnight.
